Drake’s new “mixtape” may have helped mend some broken hearts but it also topped Billboard charts and broken Spotify’s record for most streams in a debut week totalling over 15.8 million listens. The project was released spontaneously just before Valentines Day and broke Spotify’s record for most streams in a single day for an album in the U.S. totalling 6.8 million streams.

The Soundcloud stream Drake initially posted was taken down and presently can only be streamed on Spotify or purchased on i-tunes. Mixtapes usually consist of content made available for free download online, however Drizzy did things his way by releasing it for sale on i-tunes and made it available for streaming only on Spotify. According to Billboard the “mixtape / album” sold over 500,000 units in it’s first week, that’s typically more than any rap album sells these days.

This mixtape serves as the prequel to Drake’s upcoming album “Views From The 6”, it’s already topped Billboard’s charts and set new Spotify streaming records by topping his own record for his previous release “Nothing Was The Same”. This project is Drake’s 4th consecutive project that’s debuted at number one on the charts.
